Jane's awoken this morning
with one eye missing

where can it be?
she looks under the bed
nothing but crumbs of bread
she looks into the oven
nothing but a cobweb, finely woven
she looks in the toilet bowl
no eye... but out flies an owl!
Jane's lost her eye and doesn't know where to search
she asks the neighboor, who lives in the church
"I didn't see no eye Janie,
but scratching against your backdoor I hear Kitty"
Jane let Kitty in and pat her on the head
and what did she see?
her eyeball between Kitty's jaws, undamaged, shiny and a bit red.
